Module: Making full use of quantity and volume units in GUI and SIDI

Executive summary

This module makes it possible to optimally utilize transport units depending on their capacity, which is given as the maximum weight or number of possible transport units (e.g. pallets).

Functional description

The principle of the algorithm for determining the correct load of the transport unit is analogous to the principle of calculation in Module: MOQ per supplier.

However, unlike the MOQ per supplier module, it does not make sense to enter the minimum quantity, but the minimum number of units that we have to fill the truck. Simultaneously with this minimum, it is also necessary to enter a maximum, which indicates the maximum number of units for transport by the selected means of transport.

Transport parameters specified for the needs of this module:

  • Transport unit (e.g. pallet)
  • Maximum number of transport unit for transport in one truck
  • Percentual threshold, which determines the minimum occupancy of the truck (usually 90%)

Parameters for determining the units that will fill the truck:

  • A group of products that together can fill a truck
  • Supplier
  • Maximum days to cover
  • Period determination
  • Scoring

In the first step, the user must define the transport parameters. In the second step, a group of products is selected that can go together in a truck, a supplier, max days to cover and a period.

Products defined in this way are calculated their score according to ABC analysis and, as in the MOQ per supplier module, the products are sorted according to their score. The module achieves optimal truck utilization by searching for proposed orders for selected products of the given day and the following days (taking into account days to cover, periods and scores).

This functionality can be implemented only on the basis of defining the basic criteria – transport units. STOCK input interface is prepared for this module, but it is not enough to fill it in.
